SQUEAK We are taking submissions for the short film SQUEAK a lesbian centric dark comedy. Seeking Non-union female actors. Credit, meals, and Pay. Please submit with a headshot and resume to: casting@PhillyFeatures.net We are seeking the following roles: Joon: Early 20's, cute, petite artist, dresses like a hipster/child/fairy. vapid/sharp Her parents are always travelling (father is an importer / mother is an anthropologist). They provide her with as much $ as necessary. Sells ecstasy once in a while, is never for want of anything superficial, favorite animal is the naked mole rat, favorite musician is Liberace (because he sparkles and never stops smiling). April: mid to late 20's, aloof, dark sexiness that stops a room when she walks. April has a tough exterior and loves the chase. She is an exceptional mathematician, VJ and light sculpture artist. Favorite artist is Banksy. Favorite music is Die Antwerd but when alone listens to Leonard Cohen. Her father was a mechanic that got in a car wreck when he was 28 and never recovered, drinking himself to death 3 years after. He is her hero (James Dean-esque). Her mother was a nurse, but angry at the world for everything. April left when she was 18 and doesn't talk to her mother but secretly watches the obituary for her name to pop up. Mae: Late 20's, early 30's. Mae was an art history / fine arts major. she works in an Art Museum. Has never been dependent on anyone for money. Mae's father is a business executive that was never around and her mother was a stay at home, who was one of the more popular swingers in their zip code. Mae hates the beach (exploited) but loves the mountains (remote). She watches nature shows, scientific discovery talks and Surgeries. She likes psychological thrillers and comedies. She wears shades of gray with unique jewelry. Her passion is writing. Natural Rejection Synopsis Natural Rejection Synopsis Natural Rejection is a Suspense/Thriller Drama about a supposed "Cure" (Quinton Cure) for homosexuality that back fires and ends up killing off most of the female population. The main Character (Vi) is one of the last surviving women in the world and with an overwhelmingly male population left on the planet this causes major anarchy and chaos on the earth. Character Descriptions For Natural Rejection Vi Copeland: Vi is the main character of the film and is a young woman between the ages of 21 and 26. She is a strong willed young woman who is forced by her parents into a life she does not want to live. Vi is going to marry her new boyfriend Landon Carter to please her parents but is really in love with her female friend Sam Bolton. Vi tries to push the feelings that she has for Sam away at first to fit into her family’s conservative life style but as time goes on she finds that this is impossible to do. As a last resort to please her family she tries Dr.Quinton’s cure for homosexuality but finds that it does nothing but make her sick. Once the cure spreads via a retrofitted viral strain that becomes air born into the population, Vi sees that it causes all of the women to get sick and eventually die. Vi realizes that she can no longer ignore who she really is and refuses to live her life in a false way just to please other people. Landon Carter: Landon is a young man between the ages of 21 and 26 and is the boyfriend of Vi Copeland. Landon dates Vi for six months and falls deeply in love with her. He proposes to her and Vi reluctantly accepts. When the Quinton outbreak occurs Landon takes Vi under his wing and protects her from the dangers that are now in the new chaotic world. He takes them up to Dr.Quinton’s apartment complex out in the countryside to try and find Dr.Quinton, but they see no sign of her. Landon suggests they stay put at the doctor’s home until things get back to normal but Vi (who is starting to feel sick) is in love with Sam (who is also getting sick) and needs to find her before time runs out for both of them. Landon doesn’t know that Vi is gay and being a stubborn minded individual he tries to control her in order to do what he thinks is in her best interests. Sam Bolton: Sam is a young woman between the ages of 21 and 26 and is Vi’s former romantic friend before Vi’s parents pushed Landon onto Vi. Sam has been trying to get Vi to except who she really is and come out of the closet so they can be in a relationship that the whole world can see. Once the Quinton cure retrofitted virus spreads to the general population Sam knows that she has little time to get to Vi and be with the one she loves. Sam is a loyal, courage’s and tuff young woman that will go to the ends of the earth to find her life partner. Dr. Quinn Quinton: Dr.Quinton is a middle-aged woman between the ages of 40 and 50 and the sole person responsible for the Quinton cure and air born viral strain that devastates the female population. Dr. Quinton’s daughter is gay and the only way that Dr. Quinton can accept this is if it is a biological mistake that science can fix. Dr. Quinton creates a vaccine that she tests on animal subjects that display homosexual behavior. The vaccine creates a pheromone disruption that works on shifting the hypothalamus gland to be attracted toward the opposite sex. She gets approved by the FDA to start clinical trials on humans but the vaccine back fires and ends up killing not only woman who were administered the cure but all women who come into contact with the air born strain of the retrofitted virus. Dr. Quinton inadvertently ends up killing her own daughter with her cure and kills herself later on because of the guilt she feels. |
